Water usage
The manufacturing of electronic circuit boards uses a large amount of water in the board cleaning process. Until now, we have been working to reduce water consumption by managing water usage at each facility and using RO water*1. Many domestic factories have abundant groundwater, but some overseas factories are facing serious water shortages.
We use global tools such as Aqueduct*2 to assess the water risk at each of our bases. As a result, we did not find any business locations in areas deemed to be at high water risk, but we will continue to aim to use the minimum amount of water necessary without affecting quality.
*1 RO water: Water that has had impurities removed using a reverse osmosis membrane and is used in the cleaning process.
*2 Aqueduct: A water risk assessment tool developed by the World Resources Institute (WRI)

Waste reduction and recycling
We are working to reduce waste with the 3Rs (reuse, reduce, recycle) in mind. We have already installed a copper recovery plant from soft etching waste liquid and have been working to recover gold and palladium, but we will continue to actively work on further waste recycling.
