Environmental Management Promotion System

To realize our "Basic Environmental Policy," we have established an ISO environmental management system and have appointed an EMS (Environmental Management System) manager to oversee the environment at each of our factories both in Japan and overseas. We also hold company-wide manufacturing group meetings and strive to protect the environment through CO₂ reduction, zero-emission activities, etc.

ISO14001 certification obtained

We have positioned ISO 14001 as an important standard for contributing to environmental management, and since fiscal 2000 we have been working on it continuously at our domestic and overseas plants.

Compliance with environmental laws and regulations

As environmental awareness grows, environmental laws and local ordinances are being revised, and we believe that responding to and complying with these revisions will lead to our contribution to environmental conservation in the local community.Based on ISO14001, Meiko identifies the laws and regulations related to Meiko's business activities and the ordinances of each base region, and monitors their revision and abolition, thereby carrying out activities to ensure compliance with these laws and regulations.

Promoting environmental goal planning

Meiko conducts an environmental impact assessment of its corporate activities, and identifies significant environmental aspects as energy, including electricity, heavy oil, gas, and gasoline; resources, raw materials used, water, and paper; and waste, including waste plastic, sludge, waste acid, and waste alkali. We aim to steadily reduce emissions per unit of production by improving production efficiency and implementing further energy conservation initiatives.
